Deadline to join 2009-10 "LB3" Team Saturday

Former Rebel Girl remembered with each Runnin' Rebel three-pointer

Family and friends of former Rebel Girl and UNLV architectural student Lindsay Bennett formed the Lindsay Bennett Memorial prior to the 2009-10 Runnin' Rebel men's basketball season.

The memorial is funded primarily through a unique "LB3" Program in association with the UNLV men's basketball team. Community members are asked to pledge money for every three-point basket the UNLV Runnin' Rebels make during the season.

As UNLV prepares for its last regular season game this Saturday, March 6 at 1 p.m. vs. Wyoming at the Thomas & Mack Center, the Lindsay Bennett Memorial celebrates the close of its first successful season of the LB3 Program. Deadline to pledge is midnight this Saturday, March 6.

"We have been honored to be associated with the LB3 Program," said UNLV head coach Lon Kruger. "LB3 will help keep Lindsay's memory alive as well as do positive things in the community."

Pledges for the LB3 Program might be as low as 10 cents per three-pointer made. UNLV has made 197 three-pointers as of today meaning a 10 cent per shot pledge would equal a $19.70 overall donation while a 25 cent per shot pledge would equal a $49.25 donation. A number of $1 per shot pledges have helped lead to the program's first-year success as well. Flat donations are also accepted.

The memorial, which is supported by the Henderson Community Foundation - a 501 ©(3) organization - will develop a multi-faceted educational and awareness program that will ensure current and future generations comprehend the privileges and consequences of responsible drinking and driving.
