Runnin' Rebels looking for ninth road win of the season - most since 1991-92
WHAT, WHEN & WHERE:
The
UNLV Runnin' Rebels (21-7 overall, 9-5 Mountain West Conference) are on the road for the final time during the regular season as they travel to take on the
Air Force Falcons (9-17, 1-12) tomorrow - Saturday, Feb. 27 - at 12:30 p.m. at Clune Arena in Colorado Springs, Colo.
The UNLV-Air Force game will be televised nationally on
The Mtn. and will be aired locally in Las Vegas on
ESPN Radio 1100 AM with the broadcast team of
Jon Sandler and
Robert Smith. The audio broadcast and Gametracker are available online at UNLVRebels.com.
The Mtn. is available in the Las Vegas market on
Cox Digital Cable (Channel 334). It is also available throughout the nation on
DirecTV (Channel 616) as well as various cable providers (check your local listings).
WHAT YOU MIGHT WANT TO KNOW:
- UNLV is
8-3 this season in true road games. The last time the Runnin' Rebels won nine-plus road games in a season was
1991-92 when UNLV went 11-2... The Rebels went 8-5 on the road during the 2006-07 season.
- Air Force is 8-7 at home this season, 0-9 on the road and 1-1 in neutral site games.
- The Runnin' Rebels notched their
seventh win in their last 10 games as they defeated the Horned Frogs of TCU, 88-70, on Wednesday night at the Thomas & Mack Center... UNLV - currently in the third position in the Mountain West Conference (trailing BYU and New Mexico and holding a tie-breaker vs. San Diego State) - was led by junior
Tre'Von Willis and sophomore
Chace Stanback with 16 points each. Stanback also had seven rebounds, six assists, three steals and two blocks. The Rebels stood out defensively forcing 21 turnovers and coming away with 13 steals.
- UNLV, which led the Horned Frogs by as many as 31 points midway through the second half, collected 25 assists on the 31 field goals made during Wednesday night's game... Sophomore guard
Oscar Bellfield led UNLV with seven assists while not committing a turnover.
- Now 21-7 overall,
UNLV has 20 wins in four-consecutive seasons (2006-10) for the first time since 1989-93. Prior to the current run, the Runnin' Rebels had not had three consecutive 20-win seasons since 1990-93... UNLV has won
99 times since the beginning of the 2006-07 seasons, one of the top win totals in the West during that four-year span.
- Four
Mountain West Conference teams are vying for at-large bids into the NCAA Tournament... In today's updated

Joe Lunardi projected UNLV to be a No. 8 seed in the upcoming NCAA Tournament. Lunardi listed fellow Mountain West Conference teams
BYU and
New Mexico as No. 3 seeds and listed
San Diego State as one of the first four teams out... The winner of the upcoming MWC Tournament will receive an automatic bid into the NCAA Tournament.
- The Runnin' Rebels will close out the regular season at home with the annual
White Out next Saturday, March 6 at 1 p.m. vs.
Wyoming. The first 5,000 fans in attendance on March 6 will receive a free white UNLV t-shirt. Come early for the pre-game ceremony honoring UNLV's senior class and
BE IN WHITE.
- UNLV defeated Air Force earlier this season, 60-50, at the Thomas & Mack Center on Jan. 26. In the game, junior
Kendall Wallace led a second half Runnin' Rebel surge with four three-pointers in a five-minute span... Rebel fans will also remember the game as the night junior starter
Derrick Jasper injured his knee (he has not played since)... The Runnin' Rebels lead the all-time series, 22-8.
- The Falcons are led by senior forward/center
Grant Parker with 13.6 ppg and 4.8 rpg... Junior guard
Evan Washington adds 10.7 ppg and 4.7 rpg.

UNLV BANQUET SET FOR SUNDAY, MARCH 14
The Runnin' Rebel Basketball Banquet will be held Sunday, March 14 at 1 p.m. in the Cox Pavilion. Seating is limited. Cost is $30 per person or $15 for children ages 12 and under.
Fans will be able to meet and greet their favorite Runnin' Rebel players from 1 to 1:45 p.m. Attendees are encouraged to bring cameras to the family-friendly event.
Lunch will be held from 1:45 to 2:15 p.m. with the program scheduled to be held from 2:15 to 2:45 p.m.

BUFFALO WILD WINGS SUPPORTS COACHES VS. CANCER
The third annual
Coaches vs. Cancer Las Vegas Golf Classic - hosted by the men's basketball coaches of the Mountain West Conference - will be held May 23-25. This year,
Buffalo Wild Wings has teamed with Coaches vs. Cancer to raise awareness for the annual event as well as the American Cancer Society.
With March Madness just around the corner,
all nine Buffalo Wild Wings locations in the Las Vegas area will be participating by giving customers the opportunity to donate. Each donor will be invited to hang up a basketball-shaped card in the restaurant with his or her name on it.
Each store will be accepting donations from now until the end of the NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament in early April. All proceeds will be donated towards the Coaches vs. Cancer event, which benefits the American Cancer Society.
